Supporters in Teso Sub-region presented FDC presidential candidate Nandala Mafabi with goats and chickens, a traditional gesture of goodwill, as he reaffirmed plans to compensate residents for lost cattle and revive cooperative banks.
During a campaign rally in Amuria and Kapelebyong districts, residents of Teso Sub-region honored Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nandala Mafabi by presenting him with goats and chickens, a symbolic expression of respect and hope for positive change.
Mafabi used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to compensating residents for cattle and property lost during past insurgencies, accusing the current government of neglecting the region’s economic decline.
“When we get power, we shall compensate you for your lost cattle, land, and property. We already have a plan to restore what you lost,” Mafabi told the cheering crowd.
The FDC presidential hopeful also pledged to revive cooperative banks and societies to empower farmers, establish an agriculture bank dedicated to financing the rural economy, and introduce grants of Shs100 million per village annually for five years to stimulate local development.
He further promised to raise teachers’ salaries, improve health facilities, provide free education from primary through university level, and offer a Shs1 million start-up fund to graduates unable to secure employment within three months.
Mafabi criticized the ruling NRM government for mismanaging public funds, alleging that corruption and inflated contracts have concentrated Uganda’s wealth in the hands of a few at the expense of ordinary citizens.
“This country is rich, but corruption has drained it dry. Give me five years, and I’ll show you what leadership with integrity can achieve,” he said.
Residents welcomed Mafabi’s message and the symbolic gifts as a sign of mutual trust between the candidate and the community.
Many highlighted persistent challenges in the sub-region, including poor roads, inadequate hospitals, and the failure of government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) to reach intended beneficiaries.
Mafabi’s campaign continues across Teso Sub-region as he positions himself as a reformist alternative to the ruling NRM, promising to restore hope and economic prosperity to the people.e to do that?
